"Cultural property" includes sites, structures, or objects
having "archaeological (prehistoric), paleontological, historical,
religious, and unique natural values." Cultural
Heritage, therefore, encompasses both remains left by
previous human inhabitants and unique natural environmental
features such as the Cockpit Country itself. The management of
cultural property of a country is the responsibility of the
government. Any project that entails risk of damaging cultural
property (e.g., excavations) requires an assessment of the cultural
property aspects of the proposed site.
