"LAGOON"

The Fontabelle Rising lagoon photo(locally "Lagoon") is an resurgence of the Mouth River Sink, approxmately 11 km away in South Trelawny, near Spring Garden and Rock Springs(see Jamaica Underground ). This unexpected direction of flow illustrates the complexities of Cockpit Country karst hydrology and the traps associated with judging water flow by surface topography.
Lagoon is at the bottom of the hill coming down from Sherwood Content and is a popular rendezvous for washing and bathing. It also has a pumping station for the National Water Commission, thoughh this is somewhat unreliable because of the turbidity af the water after heavy rain in the hills.
