Stonehenge in Trelawny, Jamaica is undoubtedly a word-play on
the owner's name, Rev. Joseph Stoney. It was located near Campbells
on the Barbecue Bottom road
After Rev. Stoney, the estate was acquired by Dr. James Vernon and then passed on to his son James Vernon.
Key dates in the Vernon family are noted below:
Vernon, James the son of James and Elizabeth Vernon born 13th Dec. 1806 and baptized Stonehenge (estate) Jan 25th 1819.(Copy Reg Vol 1 Folio 110) and died in 1831.
Vernon, William brother of the above person was born 22nd June 1808 and baptized at the same time. (Copy Reg Vol 1 Folio 88)
Dr James Vernon of Stonehenge Estate, surgeon Trelawny militia 1803 died, 21 January 1821 at Falmouth and was buried on the Estate.
