Preservation of Small Privately Owned Historic Buildings in Falmouth, Jamaica is an essential element to conserve the still-existing fabric of ancillary Georgian infrastructure. James Parrent PhD is the man-in-charge.

Project Purpose

The purpose of the project is to preserve small historic buildings within the Historic District of Falmouth, Jamaica. The projects objectives include saving these important structures, providing improved housing for occupants, increasing community pride and awareness of the importance of these buildings, training local youth in preservation techniques and enhancing the future economic development of the town.

Project Goal

Establish Falmouth as a major visitors attraction by preserving the historic fabric of the town while improving the infrastructure and developing the product.

Relationship to other projects

The Small House Restoration Project is complemented by the restoration of larger structures such as the Baptist Manse and the revitalization of the Falmouth Waterfront that is being undertaken by the Urban Development Company.

Falmouth Restoration Company is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1990 to lead efforts to preserve and develop Falmouth's Historic District.
