Pteronotus macleayii and P. quadridens are our two smallest members of the family Mormopidae and Mormoops blainvillae is a third member. All three are insectivorous and use "ordinary" echo location to find their prey. The fourth Jamaican member of this family (P. parnellii) has evolved to use the doppler effect and is adapted to a different niche.
